Submitted on

Madrid (Spain), November 16, 2014 (SPS) - Sahrawi President Mohamed Abdelaziz reminded, Friday evening in Madrid (Spain), the international community of its responsibilities towards the Sahrawi issue and the necessity to take “rigorous” actions to bring Morocco to respect the international law.

“The current situation puts the international community, at its head the United Nations, in front of its responsibilities regarding Morocco’s schemes and its contempt for the international law,” said President Abdelaziz at the opening of the 39th European Conference for Support and Solidarity with the Sahrawi People (EUCOCO).

He added that the Sahrawi people, who are peacefully fighting for their independence, need a rigorous international action and more efforts to organize the self-determination referendum.

The Sahrawi President also warned against the risk of the deterioration of the situation in the region, notably because of drug trafficking from Morocco, which encourages and fuels the criminal organizations and terrorist groups.

Abdelaziz called for the liberation of the Sahrawi prisoners detained by Morocco and called to shed light on the missing people during Morocco’s invasion in 1975. (SPS)
