Submitted on

Brussels, Dec 14, 2014, (SPS)- The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Network (EMHRN) denounced "the Moroccan repeated attacks" against the human rights organizations, including in the occupied territories of Western Sahara.

In an open letter to EU-Morocco Association Council, to be held on December 16, the EMHRN condemned "the repeated attacks inflicted to human rights organizations, including in the Western Sahara, calling for "putting an end" to arbitrary arrests during peaceful demonstrations" of Sahrawi people.

Moreover, the Network called on Morocco to stop "judicial harassment of activists claiming their right to demonstrate peacefully, especially on the territory of Western Sahara, to release detained protesters following arbitrary convictions and to drop the charges brought against them."

It also urged Morocco "to effectively guarantee the rights to freedom of assembly, expression and association by any individual or group without discrimination, including in Western Sahara".

EMHRN denounced the "excessive and unnecessary use of force at several events," calling Morocco "to effectively guarantee the freedom to assemble and demonstrate peacefully and express their opinions." (SPS)
