New York, March 14, 2015 (SPS) - The United Nations refuted in a press release issued on Saturday, its participation in the "Crans-Montana" forum held in the occupied city of Dakhla, in response to some press reports which indicated that the personal advisor to the Secretary-General on innovative financing Mr. Philippe Douste-Blazy, participates in the Forum on behalf of the United Nations.
“The Secretary-General was invited to this Forum, but informed its President that he could not attend. He did not delegate Mr. Philippe Douste-Blazy or anyone else to represent him or the United Nations” said the press release.
The press release added that Mr. Douste-Blazy, who serves as a special advisor to the Secretary-General on innovative financing, is attending exclusively in his private capacity.
It also noted that the Forum described Dakhla as a city in Morocco, while the definitive status of Western Sahara is the object of a negotiating process being conducted under the auspices of the Secretary-General in accordance with the relevant United Nations resolutions. (SPS)
