African National Congress distances itself from Crans Montana forum

Submitted on

Johannesburg, March 18, 2015 (SPS) - The African National Congress (ANC) on Wednesday declared, through the Chairperson of its NEC International Relations Sub-Committee Mr. Obed Bapela, it distances itself from the delegation Moroccan media purported to be representing them at the Crans Montana Forum, held in occupied Dajla on 12-14 March 2015.

In an official statement published Wednesday on their website, ANC highlighted that over the weekend someone claiming to represent the ANC took part at the Crans Montana Forum in Dakhla, in the occupied territories of Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR).

Bearing this in mind, Bapela renewed ANC’s commitments to the positions of the African Union, the Southern African Development Community and the United Nation regarding the rights of Saharawi people.

“Thus the ANC would not have ventured participation in this kind of event as it was at variants with the aspirations of the people of SDR - the last remaining colony on our Continent,” stated the South African official.

He, moreover, reiterated ANC’s continued support to the struggle for self-determination of the Saharawi people. (SPS)
