Dajla (refugee camps), April 29, 2015 (SPS) - The Minister of Culture Ms. Khadija Hamdi on Wednesday indicated that culture, particularly cinema, can bring people together regardless of their religions, cultures and geographical distance.

In a speech delivered at the inauguration of the annual FiSahara Festival, Saharawi Minister of Culture underlined that the theme of this year’s edition “Universal Justice” meets the wishes and goals of the Saharawi people, who are still fighting for endless human values, notably the right to self-determination.

The Minister added the slogan of FiSahara 2015 is consistent with the noble values of the Saharawi people of freedom and justice, and the ideals of brotherhood, tolerance, coexistence between people of the world on the basis of mutual respect and the respect for the other’s cultural distinctions.

Minister Khadija said that culture should not be a guillotine to execute people, as is the case with the Saharawi people under Moroccan occupation since more than 39 years.

She also drew the participants’ attention to the suffering experienced by Saharawis in the occupied territories and in southern morocco, especially amid increased flagrant violations of human rights committed by Moroccan regime. (SPS)
