Rome, May 28, 2015 (SPS) - Algeria and Italy reaffirmed Wednesday in Rome, in a final joint statement culminating the works of the 3rd Algerian-Italian high level meeting, their support to the right of the Saharawi people to self-determination.

“The two sides reaffirmed their support to the efforts of the United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon and his special envoy to Western Sahara Christopher Ross, aimed at reaching a mutually acceptable, just and lasting political solution, providing for the self-determination of the Sahrawi people,” said the statement.

In their final statement, the two countries refer to the relevant resolutions of the United Nations Security Council and the principles set out in the UN Charter, according to the document released Wednesday evening at the end of the 3rd Algerian-Italian high level meeting, co-chaired by Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal and President of the Council of Ministers of Italy Matteo Renzi.
