Submitted on

Abuja, July 23, 2015 (SPS) - President of the All Progressives Congress (ruling party), John Odigie Oyegun, has expressed support to the struggle of Saharawi people for freedom and independence, adding that such position is “a continuation of Nigeria’s tradition and history of support to liberation issues in Africa.”

In a courtesy visit paid to him by Saharawi Ambassador Mr. Ubbi Bachraya Bachir, the Nigerian official expressed APC’s willingness to deepen bilateral relations with the Polisario Front, in a way that serves the interests of the two countries and brotherly peoples.

Saharawi diplomat, for his part, praised the growing significant role played by the African Union to expedite the search for a settlement and to ensure the respect for Saharawi people’s right to self-determination and independence.

He, in this regard, hailed the constant and principled support Nigeria has been demonstrating to the Saharawi people since 1980s.

Mr. Ubbi took the occasion to felicitate Oyegun on the landslide victory obtained by his party in the last general elections that took place last April. (SPS)
