Algeria, August 24, 2015 (SPS) - The Algerian Minister of Culture, Azzedine Mihoubi, confirmed Sunday in Algiers the willingness of his ministry to support the Saharawi cultural sector through training in various art fields.
Mr. Mihoubi expressed, in a press statement after a meeting with the Sahrawi Minister of Culture, Khadija Hamdi, the readiness to support the culture sector in Western Sahara through the activation of the formerly planned agreements and improving the performance of the cultural institutions.
The minister explained that the support of the cultural institutions of Western Sahara lies in setting a calendar of training, which includes several cultural domains such as theater, cinema and others.
He stressed that Algeria is seeking to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries, especially in the cultural field, adding that this endeavor is demanded by Algerian intellectuals who called for the need to participate in events held in the Sahrawi camps.
In the same context, Mr. Mihoubi confirmed that his ministry is considering organizing an Algerian cultural convoy toward the Sahrawi refugee camps.
For her part, the Minister of Culture, Khadija Hamdi, expressed her gratitude to the willingness of support shown by Algeria to the Saharawi cause, especially in the field of the cultural sector in the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic, highlighting the basic principle represented by Algeria in the struggle of all peoples of the world in order to recover their sovereignty over their territory.
