Murcia (Spain) November 20, 2015 (SPS) - The General Assembly "parliament" in the province of Murcia, Spain, approved during the session held Thursday a motion presented by the spokespersons of the parliamentary entities represented in the regional parliament, through which they confirmed the need for the decolonization of Western Sahara.
The motion recalled that the Western Sahara issue is a question of decolonization that has not been completed yet, demanding the Spanish Government to play a positive role in line with legal, political and historical responsibilities, and to follow the example of Indonesia in the decolonization of East Timor.
It urged the international community and the United Nations to assume their responsibilities in the protection of Saharawi citizens in the occupied territories, as well as to work on opening the occupied territories, in front of international observers and media.
It reminded of the suffering of the Saharawi people since 1975, as well as the various United Nations resolutions concerning the recognition of the inalienable right of the Saharawi people. (SPS)
