Saharawi women participate in 70th WIDF anniversary

 Havana, November 30, 2015 (SPS) A Saharawi delegation led by the Secretary General of the Saharawi Women Union, Fatima El-Mehdi, participated in the ceremony commemorating the 70th anniversary of Women's International Democratic Federation (WIDF), held in the Cuban capital, Havana.

 

 The event was organized by the Latin American section of the WIDF and the Federation of Cuban Women, in the presence of delegations of women from several countries, including the Sahrawi Republic (SADR).

 

 The commemoration ceremony will see the organization of debates on the evaluation of the experience of WIDF and its role in the struggle for peace, justice and a decent life for women, children and girls around the world.

 

The debates will also discuss the proposals submitted to the WIDF 16th Conference, to be held next year in Colombia.

 

 Solidarity activities were organized by African women as part of WIDF support to the liberation and independence of the last colony in Africa, Western Sahara.

 

The event will also see other activities of solidarity with the Saharawi cause, Venezuela, Syria and Palestine. (SPS)
