Re-opening of Sahrawi Embassy in the Republic of Panama (Foreign Ministry statement)

Chahid Hafed, January 07, 2015 (SPS) – the Sahrawi embassy in Republic of Panama opened today, where Mr. Ali Mahmud began his work as the ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Sahrawi Republic to the sister Republic of Panama, said a foreign ministry statement.

The Republic of Panama is the first Latin American country to recognize SADR, and has historical ties of friendship, solidarity and cooperation with the Saharawi Republic for nearly four decades.


The country is situated in the region of Central America enjoys a strategic geographical position, thanks to the famous Panama Canal linking the Pacific and Atlantic oceans, giving it an important place in world trade.

The Republic of Panama nowadays witnessed a remarkable social and economic growth. Also plays an important political role within regional and international organizations. (SPS)
