CODESA denounces the prevention of foreign observers to enter in the occupied Western Sahara

Occupied El Aaiun, January 21,2016 (SPS) - The Collective of Sahrawi Human Rights Defenders (CODESA) condemned the Moroccan occupation prevention of more than 67 foreign observers of various nationalities between Sunday and Tuesday from entering the occupied Western Sahara.

 

“We expressed serious concern on Moroccan state policy to expel and prevent foreign observers to visit and enter the cities of the Occupied Western Sahara, dubbing it ongoing repressive policy targeting every Sahrawi citizen demanding freedom and dignity and the right to life and a decent living.” said CODESA statement, a copy of which obtained by SPS.

 

The statement called on the international community for urgent action in order to respect the human rights of the occupied cities of Western Sahara, and the provision of a UN mechanism to monitor and report the human rights situation.

 

The statement appealed to work on opening the territories in front of international observers and organizations and human rights bodies and the international media, lifting media blockade imposed on the territory, and the removal of the wall of shame that divides the Saharawi people and threatens the establishment of any peace contributing to respect the international legitimacy.

 

it should be recalled that the Norwegian Support Commitee for Western Sahara in its website that more than 63 foreign visitors from different countries . They were from Norway (56 people), Sweden, the Netherlands, Lithuania, US, Canada and Poland.(SPS)
