Washington, February 18, 2016 (SPS) -The Personal Envoy of the UN Secretary General for Western Sahara Christopher Ross is expected to visit the region Friday to prepare the visit of UN SG Ban Ki-moon, a Sahrawi source told APS.

"Ross’s visit comes within the framework of the preparation of the visit of Ban Ki-moon," the Polisario representative to the UN, Ahmed Boukhari told APS.

Ross should visit the Sahrawi refugee camps in Tindouf, the Saharawi diplomat added.

Ross will also visit Algiers, Rabat and Nouakchott, the source said.

"There has been no official confirmation of the visit of Ban Ki-moon, I hope that Ross will get more information about the organization of this visit, which is still being blocked by Morocco," Boukhari added.

Morocco's strategy consists in blocking any progress in the settlement of the conflict in Western Sahara during the mandate of Ban Ki-moon that expires in the end of 2016.

Up here, Rabat refuses to approve the agenda of the visit approved by the UN. (SPS)
