Assa, February 21, 2016 (SPS) The local branch of the Moroccan Association of Human Rights (AMDH) in Assa warned against "risky" degradation of the health of Sahrawi former political prisoner and human right activist, Ali Salem Tamek, in press statement.
Saharawi defender Ali-Salem Tamek started on 6 February, a sit-in at the headquarters of the local branch of the AMDH followed by an unlimited hunger strike on February 9, to protest against attempts by the Moroccan regime to deprive him of his legitimate rights to pursue higher education.
The Moroccan association has called on the Moroccan authorities to bear its responsibilities towards the deteriorating of his health, warning against the consequences that may arise from this hunger strike.
Ali-Salem Tamek sufferinged for years from chronic diseases, including asthma, heart problems, breathing difficulties and tension, recalled AMDH. (SPS)
