AU reiterates support of Sahrawi people right to self-determination

Shahid Hafed, February 26, 2016 (SPS) - President of Pan-African Parliament, Mr. Roger Nkodo Dang, reaffirmed the support of the African Union to just solution guaranteeing the right of the Saharawi people to self-determination, enshrined in the African Union and United Nations resolutions.

 

"I have come to the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic to attend the celebrations of the 40th anniversary of the declaration of the Sahrawi state at the official invitation of the Government of the Sahrawi state, which is a founding member of the African Union, to express our support for a peaceful solution that ensures the right of the Saharawi people to self-determination and freedom," Mr. Nkodo said in a statement to Sahrawi news agency (SPS).

 

The President of the Pan-African Parliament highlighted that all the United Nations and African Union resolutions support this right as the appropriate solution to this issue.

 

The celebration of 40th anniversary of the proclamation of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) will be organized Saturday in the Wilaya of Dakhla, Sahrawi refugee camps, and attended by delegations from all over the world. (SPS)
