United Kingdom, January 21, 2025 (SPS) - The United Kingdom has renewed its position on the Western Sahara issue, confirming its continued support for the efforts led by the United Nations to reach a just, lasting, and mutually acceptable political solution based on settlement, which guarantees the right to self-determination for the people of Western Sahara.

This came in response to a question posed by Conservative Party Member of Parliament Mr. Andrew Rosindell to the Minister of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs and Development.

The Minister of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs added that the United Kingdom continues to support the efforts led by the United Nations and the work of Stefan de Mistura in his capacity as the Personal Envoy of the UN Secretary-General for Western Sahara.

The UK also continues to encourage constructive participation in the UN political process. The United Kingdom believes that this process is the best way to resolve the long-standing conflict by reaching a solution acceptable to all parties, which would significantly contribute to regional security and prosperity.
