Algiers, November 15, 2024 (SPS) - The Algerian Minister of National Solidarity, Family, and Women's Issues, Kawthar Kriko, has received her Sahrawi counterpart, Suilema Berouk, Minister of Social Affairs and Women's Empowerment.

The meeting addressed the bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to enhance and develop cooperation between the Sahrawi and Algerian ministries in various fields related to women's issues and their advancement.

The Algerian minister emphasized Algeria's firm and supportive stance on the Sahrawi people's right to self-determination and independence, praising the significant role played by Sahrawi women in the fight for liberation across various areas of struggle, exemplified by their active participation in building Sahrawi state institutions.

The Algerian minister expressed her readiness to provide all necessary support and cooperation for the benefit of Sahrawi women, while presenting an overview of the Algerian ministry's experience regarding family and women's issues in promoting Algerian women and assisting them in many areas, alongside care for people with disabilities and elderly care, among others.

For her part, Sahrawi Minister praised the positions of the Algerian state and its support for the Sahrawi people in their struggle for freedom and independence.

She expressed her gratitude to her Algerian counterpart for the warm welcome and for her willingness to further cooperate in exchanging programs and benefiting from the Algerian experience.
