Nigerian Movement for Solidarity with Saharawi People "The European Court's decision represents historic victory for Saharawi people's struggle for freedom and sovereignty"

Abuja (Nigeria), October 06, 2024 (SPS) - The Nigerian Movement for Solidarity with the Saharawi People affirmed that the decision of the European Court of Justice ruling the illegality of the agreements concluded between Morocco and the European Union represents a historic victory for the Saharawi people's struggle for freedom and sovereignty.

The Nigerian movement, in a statement obtained by "SPS", explained that the decision, which confirms the illegality of the agreements between the European Union and Morocco and categorically rejects the calls of the European Council and the European Commission, represents a historic victory for the Saharawi people's struggle for freedom and sovereignty.

The statement added that this historic decision confirms the separate and distinct status of Western Sahara and the inevitable approval of the Saharawi people to any agreements that include their lands and natural resources, and is a strong testimony to the steadfastness, determination and tireless pursuit of justice, freedom and self-determination of the Saharawi people.

The Nigerian movement renewed its steadfastness and commitment to support the just Sahrawi cause, until the liberation of the last colony on the African continent, noting that the decision sends a clear message to the international community that the Sahrawi issue is a decolonization issue and can only be resolved by respecting the right of the Sahrawi people to freedom, self-determination and independence.
