Algeria: Organizing a symposium in solidarity with the Sahrawi and Palestinian issues

Algeria, February 24, 2024 (SPS) - The New Algeria Front, together with a group of Algerian parties, organized a symposium in solidarity with the Sahrawi and Palestinian issues, in Algiers, under the title of "The repercussions of the Al-Aqsa flood and the Sahrawi issue on national security and activating solidarity mechanisms”.

The symposium was attended, in addition to the Algerian parties, by a member of the National Secretariat of the Polisario Front, the Ambassador to Algeria, Mr. Abdelkader Taleb Omar, a Representative of the Palestinian Hamas movement, and a number of figures and representatives of civil society.

The President of the New Algeria Front Party, Jamal Ben Abdel-Salam, stressed the importance of this symposium and the circumstances in which it is being held, focusing on the new transformations taking place in the Middle East and North Africa as a result of the ongoing war in Palestinian Gaza, and the return of the Polisario Front to the armed struggle against the expansionist Kingdom of Morocco, as well as the challenges that have become imposed by these new developments and the resulting repercussions, and the search for formulas for developing and strengthening mechanisms of solidarity with the Sahrawi and Palestinian peoples.

For his part, the Sahrawi Ambassador touched on the efforts made by Algeria and the ongoing advocacy in international forums for the Sahrawi and Palestinian issues, highlighting the crises that the Makhzen regime is going through and the failure of its policies that pushed it to throw itself into the arms of Israel, reviewing its conspiracies as a functional state in the region for colonization, offering its land as foreign military bases, and chasing foreign companies in order to invest in Western Sahara, in order to involve other countries in the Western Sahara conflict.

The participants in this symposium called in their interventions for the necessity of recruitment and mobilization for solidarity and support for the Sahrawi and Palestinian peoples and for finding more effective mechanisms of action to confront the various challenges facing the two issues and the peoples who support them and reject hegemony and colonialism.

The interveners unanimously agreed that the recent developments of the Sahrawi and Palestinian issues have exposed the puppet and functional states that are a tool for colonialism and foreign intervention, led by the Kingdom of Hashish, the Kingdom of Morocco, stressing that the armed struggle and steadfastness in the face of the policies of the enemies of the two issues are the decisive factors in imposing the legitimate rights to freedom and independence.

The interveners also appreciated the positions of the Algerian state in defending the two issues, highlighting the challenges that the region is experiencing now more than ever and the awareness and cohesion that are required to confronting these challenges.
