Bilateral relations: MFA welcomes statements of Kenyan president

Birlahlou (liberated territories) - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has welcomed the statements of Kenyan President William Ruto who affirmed his country's commitment to relations with the Sahrawi Republic, highlighting the "strong" will to "deepen" the historical relations of friendship and solidarity between the two countries.

The Sahrawi Republic reaffirmed its "permanent willingness to continue and deepen the historical relations of friendship and solidarity with the Republic of Kenya, a brotherly country," adds the same source.
In a statement to the France 24 channel, President Ruto affirmed that the position of Kenya has not changed regarding its relations with the Sahrawi Republic and this is a position of the UN.
In a statement addressed to its diplomatic missions, its central administration and many foreign bodies, the Kenyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs had reaffirmed the position of its country on the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR), stressing that it has excellent relations with all members of the AU and the UN and that it "will always continue to strengthen these relations for mutual benefit.
According to the same source, "Kenya's position on the SADR is fully aligned with the decision of the Organization of African Unity (now AU) to admit the SADR as a full member and the AU Charter which calls for the indisputable and inalienable right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination.
Nairobi's position is also in line with "Security Council Resolution 690 of 1991, calling for the exercise by the Saharawi people of its right to self-determination.
Meanwhile, Kenya's Vice President Rigathi Gachagua affirmed that his country's position on SADR is that expressed by the Kenyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in line with the positions of the AU and the UN.
