Western Sahara: ECJ decision, "mandatory" for EU, member states, says Belani

Paris (France), May 15, 2017 (SPS) – The decision of the European Court of Justice (ECJ) which excludes Western Sahara territories from the EU-Morocco trade agreements is "mandatory" for both the European Commission and its member states, said Algeria's ambassador to Brussels, Amar Belani, in reaction to reports that the European Commission had requested the Union’s approval for a new negotiating mandate with a view to "adjusting" certain provisions of the agreements.

Sahrawis in Belgium celebrate 44th anniversary of Polisario Front creation

Copenhagen (Denmark) 14 May, 2017 (SPS) - Upon official invitation, the POLISARIO Front representative in Denmark, Mr. Abba Malainin, has participated in the annual Congress of the Red-Green Alliance Party convened in the capital, Copenhagen from 12 to 14 May 2017.
The Danish party has traditional unwavering supporting stand with regard to the right of the people of Western Sahara to self-determination, independence, the respect of human rights in Western Sahara and defends also the right of the Saharawi people sovereignty over their natural resources.

President of Republic condemns aggressive behavior of Morocco in Sahrawi liberated territories

"strongly condemned" the new aggressive behavior through the presence of the Moroccan forces at 50 kilometers outside the buffer zone, in the territorial waters of Western Sahara between Guerguerat and Lagouira, southwestern Western Sahara, in violation of the 1991 ceasefire agreement no. 1 and the supplementary convention of 1997 signed between the Polisario Front and Morocco under the auspices of the UN.

Western Sahara remains a "Non-Self-Governing Territories"

Brussels, May 10, 2017 (SPS) – Western Sahara status remains that of a "non-self-governing territories," said EU Foreign Policy Chief Federica Mogherini, reiterating the EU support to the efforts of the UN Secretary-General in order to reach a solution that will allow "the self-determination of the people of Western Sahara."
 

Fourth ordinary session of the Pan-African Parliament begins in Midrand

The session, attended by 54 states of the continent, had as guests of honor the presidents of Malawi, S.E. Prof. Arthur P. Mutharika, and Burkina Faso, S.E. Roch Mark Christian Kabore.

POLISARIO Front takes part at Norwegian Trade Unions Confederation 34th Congress

Oslo, Norway, 09 May 2017 (SPS) - the representative of the Frente POLISARIO in Norway, Dr. Limam Khalil, has attended the 34th Congress of the Norwegian Trade Union Confederation (NFTU), which started on Monday in Oslo.
 
Delegates representing more than 35 countries, as well as many international trade union organizations, will attend the conference. The conference is expected to endorse the position of the Confederation of Norwegian Trade Unions on a number of international issues, including the issue of decolonization in Western Sahara.
