Western Sahara conflict: Messahel receives Kohler

Algiers, Oct 22, 2017 (SPS) – Algerian Foreign Minister Abdelkader Messahel has received, Saturday in Algiers, the United Nations Secretary General's Personal Envoy for Western Sahara, Horst Kohler, who is on a tour in the region.
During the discussions, held at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Messahel and Kohler focused mainly on issues related to the Western Sahara conflict.

EUCOCO: Algeria's support to Sahrawi people reiterated, Europe urged to get more involved

Vitry-Sur-Seine (France), Oct 22, 2017 (SPS) – The member of the Council of the Nation (Upper House of Parliament), vice-president of the Committee on Economic Affairs and Finance Noureddine Djaafar on Saturday has called on Europe to get more involved in the settlement of decolonization issues, especially the question of Western Sahara, occupied by Morocco.
He also reiterated Algeria's unconditional support to the struggle of Sahrawi people for their right to self-determination and the protection of their natural resources.

Need to return to fundamental rights, set date for self-determination referendum

Works of 42nd EUCOCO kick off in Paris

Decolonization of Western Sahara examined at French National Assembly

Paris, Oct 21, 2017 (SPS)- The decolonization of Western Sahara and Europe’s role in the settlement of the conflict was examined Friday, in a parliamentary meeting at the French National Assembly, the second after the one organized in April 2016.
This meeting, organized at the initiative of Deputy Jean-Paul Lecoq, fervent defender of the Sahrawi cause, gathered several European deputies coming from Spain, Italy and Sweden, as well as Algerian parliamentarians, representatives of the associative movement and Saharawi officials.

Sahrawi President commits to making Kohler's mission successful

Shaheed El-Hafed (refugee camps), Oct 21, 2017 (SPS) -President of Republic, Secretary General of the Polisario Front, Brahim Ghali, said Thursday that the Polisario Front will spare no effort to make successful the mission of the Personal Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations for Western Sahara Horst Kohler provided that Morocco shows political willingness.

Algerian Parliamentary delegation to take part in EUCOCO Conference in Paris

Algiers, Oct 21, 2017 (SPS) –An Algerian parliamentary delegation led by Chairman of the Commission on foreign affairs, cooperation and the national community abroad at the People's National Assembly (Lower House) Abdelhamid Si Afif will take part in the 42nd European Coordinating Conference of Support to the Sahrawi People (EUCOCO 2017), scheduled for 21-22 October in Paris, said the Assembly in a communiqué.

International Art Festival: Some 70 international artists from 16 countries expected in Dakhla

Dakhla (refugee camps), Oct 21, 2017 (SPS) - Some 70 world- renowned artists and human rights defenders from at least 16 countries, are expected Friday in Dakhla (Sahrawi refugee camps) to take part in the International Art Festival, the organizers said Thursday.
Some 70 participants, giants of art and music will come from Palestine, South Africa, Chile, France, Finland, Mexico, Italy, the United States of America, Cuba, Honduras, Great Britain, Uruguay, Argentine, Egypt and Spain in addition to Algeria.

Shaheed El-Hafed (refugee camps), Oct 20, 2017 (SPS) - Sahrawi President and Polisario Front's Secretary General Brahim Ghali on Thursday has held talks with the United Nations Secretary General's Personal Envoy for Western Sahara Horst Kohler.
The one-to-one discussions took place at the headquarters of the Presidency of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) in Shaheed El-Hafed camp.
