Cuba's Inter-State Friendship Organization reaffirms solidarity with struggle of Sahrawi people

Havana, 11 December 2022 (SPS) - Cuba's Inter-State Friendship Organization has reaffirmed its unconditional solidarity with the struggle of the Sahrawi people against the Moroccan occupation, stressing its legitimate right to freedom and independence.
During the opening speech of the tenth session of the Friendship Festival held in Cuba, the Cuban organization called on the UN Security Council, the General Secretariat and the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights to "urgently intervene to protect human rights in the occupied parts of Western Sahara as a result of the oppression and abuse that the Sahrawi people are subjected to in the occupied cities."
For its part, the Union of Students of Saguia el-Hamra and Río de Oro (UESARIO), which participated in the events, expressed thanks for the efforts made to defend international legitimacy and the right of peoples to self-determination.
Sahrawi students held several meetings with international organizations participating in the festival where it was opportunity for publicizing the just cause of the Sahrawi people and its legitimate right to self-determination and independence, as well as expanding solidarity and collaboration with various international organizations
