Malabo (Equatorial Guinea), 08 December 2022 (SPS) - The Sahrawi Republic participated in the 16th session of the Committee of Director-Generals of the National Statistics Offices (CoDGs) of the African Union, which was held from 6 to 7 December 2022, in the capital, Malabo.
The 16th Session of CoDGs was held under 2022 AU theme; “Strengthening Resilience in Nutrition and Food Security on African Continent: Strengthening Agri-Food Systems, Health and Social Protection Systems for Acceleration of Human, Social and Economic Capital Development”.
The main objectives of the CoDGs are to discuss statistical development in Africa and, through the AU Nutrition year 2022, to celebrate gains made in recent years and secure greater political commitment and investment in nutrition to address the ongoing nutrition challenges related to data availability and gaps.
The Committee of Directors-General of African National Statistical Offices (CoDG) was established by the AU 2006 Conference of Ministers of Economy and Finance. CoDG meets annually under the auspices of the African Union Commission to discuss statistical development in Africa and ensure that it follows the premise of using harmonised, reliable, timely, accurate and comparable statistics in a coordinated manner to ensure the effective implementation of the African integration agenda and Agenda 2063.
The Sahrawi Republic was represented in this session by the Central Director of Statistics at the Ministry of Interior, Mohamed Ali Abdel Rahman.
