Berlin, 5 December 2022 (SPS) - The representative of the Polisario Front in Europe and to the European Union (EU), Oubi Bushraya Bashir, has indicated that the 46th edition of the conference of the European Coordination of Support and Solidarity with the Sahrawi People (EUCOCO) was "a success", stressing that this meeting had made it possible to analyze the situation of the decolonization process in Western Sahara.
"The EUCOCO meeting made it possible to analyze the situation of the decolonization process (in Western Sahara) and to establish an action plan that will guide the work of solidarity throughout the year 2023," Oubi Bushraya affirmed in a statement to the national television SADR-TV.
The Sahrawi diplomat also asserted that the choice of Germany as host country was a "good decision", noting that despite the misinformation -reporting an alleged change of position on Western Sahara-, "Germany has not crossed the red line that Spain has crossed.
In this respect, the diplomat referred to the existence of "two tendencies within the EU, one which is in favour of international law and the other in favour of fait accompli and therefore support for the occupation".
Germany, which plays a "decisive" role, lies between the two trends, he said, noting that "the Sahrawi diplomatic efforts and those of EUCOCO were aimed at bringing this country to ensure that international legality is always the consensual position within the EU.
In addition, Oubi Bushraya welcomed the highlevel guests and participants in the 46th EUCOCO conference held on Friday and Saturday in Berlin, with a special presence of the Nordic Countries, where "there is a great commitment to reactivate the work of solidarity with the Sahrawi people", not to mention the dozens of civil society organizations.
Stressing that the Polisario Front's message to the EUCOCO conference was "clear and unequivocal", the diplomat affirmed that the representative of the Saharawi people was committed to "international legality and a peaceful solution".
"We have very clear ideas and we will lead our struggle to the end for the exercise of the right to self-determination," he assured.
As in previous editions, he added, the work was conducted through workshops divided into thematic areas, where there was "a clear and practical line with a specific schedule.
For him, the objective of these discussions is none other than "to ensure visibility to the Sahrawi cause throughout the year 2023.
"This edition of the EUCOCO conference, in this decisive context, must serve as a turning point in European solidarity in favor of the Sahrawi cause. It must be more organized, more precise and with very clear objectives, especially now that we are preparing for a new ruling of the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) on the plundering of natural resources (of Western Sahara), which will set the political, diplomatic and solidarity agenda," he concluded.
