Irish Sinn Fein Party adopts motion supporting right of Sahrawi people to self-determination

Dublin (Ireland), 7 November 2022 (SPS) - The Irish Sinn Fein party adopted a recommendation supporting the struggle of the Sahrawi people and its right to self-determination, during its annual Conference, which concluded Saturday in the Irish capital Dublin.
The recommendation was unanimously approved by the Conference, where the representative of the Polisario Front in Ireland, Mr. Nafei Rais, participated in its work at an official invitation of the party.
The recommendation highlights that the Conference expresses its solidarity with the people of Western Sahara and considers that the recognition of the Sahrawi Republic by many member states of the United Nations and the African Union was a positive step.
The recommendation adds that the Conference recognizes the aspirations of the Sahrawi Republic for independence and reaffirms Sinn Fein's recognition of the right of the people of Western Sahara to self-determination and future determination.
On the sidelines of the Conference, the representative of the Polisario Front in Ireland, Mr. Nafei Rais, met with the leader of Sinn Fein party, Member of Parliament, Ms. Mary Lou MacDonald. The meeting was an opportunity for the Sahrawi diplomat to express thanks of the Polisario Front for the invitation to attend the party's annual congress, appreciating the positions expressed by several party officials during the sessions.
