Agadir (Morocco), 5 November 2022 (SPS) - Sister of Sahrawi civilian prisoner of Gdeim Izik group, Mohamed Hasna Ahmed Salem Borial, who is in the local prison of Ait Melloul 1 on the outskirts of Agadir, Morocco, reported that her brother was subjected to a humiliating and provocative search last Thursday by prison staff.

Um Saad Bourial told the Association for the Protection of Sahrawi Prisoners in Moroccan Prisons that her brother has become severely visually impaired, she did not exclude that the prison administration deliberately confiscated glasses to repair visual impairment that the family had sent a few days ago by mail in line with the procedures in place by the prison administration because the family could not move continuously between the cities of Western Sahara and the southern Moroccan city of Agadir.
Sahrawi civilian prisoner, Mohamed Hasna Ahmed Salem Borial, is in Ait Melloul 1 prison, on the outskirts of the Moroccan city of Agadir, following an unfair sentence of up to 30 years in prison that lacked fair trial guarantees and standards, which took place in the Moroccan city of Salé in the period between 26December 2016 and 17 July 2017, with the testimony of important international human rights organizations such as Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International, against the background of the barbaric dismantling of the camp of the displaced Sahrawis in November 2010 in the Gdeim Izik region, east of the occupied city of El-Aaiun.
