Botswana President reaffirms continuous support to Sahrawi people right to self-determination and independence

Gaborone (Botswana), 15 October 2022 (SPS) - President of Botswana, Mr. Mokgweetsi Masisi, has reaffirmed his country's historical position in support of the right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination, liberation and independence.
This came in a letter of reply addressed Friday by the President of Botswana to the President of the Republic, Secretary-General of the Polisario Front, Mr. Brahim Ghali, in which he reiterated his country's firm position in support of the right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination and independence.
The letter of the President of Botswana was in response to a congratulatory letter sent to him by President Brahim Ghali on the occasion of Botswana people's celebration of their independence.
The President of Botswana thanked his Sahrawi counterpart for his good wishes to the Government and the people of Botswana, reiterating Botswana's firm and continuous position on the Saharawi people's cause and their right to self-determination in conformity with the relevant United Nations and African Union resolutions.
