Addis Ababa, 6 February 2022 (SPS) - President of the Republic, Secretary General of the Polsario Front, Brahim Ghali, has affirmed that the African Union (AU) could only preserve its unity and coherence through full compliance with the Constitutive Act of the organization.
Speaking during the debate on the report of the AU Peace and Security Council (PSC) submitted to the 35th AU Summit of Heads of State and Government, Prsident Ghali reaffirmed that the continental organization "can only preserve its unity and coherence and move forward in its project for the benefit of the African peoples through full compliance with the Constitutive Act of the AU, in particular Articles 3 and 4, as well as the African Charter on Human and Peoples' Rights".
The President of the Republic reaffirmed the full readiness of the SADR to work with the PSC and the AU in general to achieve a just and final solution in accordance with the resolutions of the AU and those of the PSC in particular.
He recalled that the PSC had clearly expressed its concern about the issue of human rights in occupied Western Sahara and the illegal plundering by Morocco of the natural wealth of the Sahrawi people.
The President of the Republic is taking part in the work of the 35th Summit of African Union Heads of State and Government, held Saturday and Sunday at the African Union Headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
He is accompanied by a delegation comprising Minister of Information, Government spokesperson, Hamada Salma, Counsellor to the Presidency of the Republic, Abdati Brika, Legal Counsellor to the Presidency of the Republic, Ahmed Sid Ali, Ambassador to South Africa, Mohamed Yaslam Bessat, Ambassador to Ethiopia and Permanent Representative to the African Union, Lamine Baali.
