Shahid Al Hafed, 16 January 2022 (SPS) - The Personal Envoy of the UN Secretary-General for Western Sahara, Staffan de Mistura, met Saturday evening with the head of the Political Organization of the Polisario Front, Khatri Addouh, in Dar Diafa in Shahid Al Hafed.
The meeting was attended by the Chief of Staff of the Sahrawi army, Mohamed Al Wali Akik, the representative of the Polisario Front at the United Nations and Coordinator with MINURSO, Sidi Mohamed Omar, the adviser to the Sahrawi presidency, Abdati Abrika, and the Minister of Cooperation, Fatma Al Mahdi, and was an opportunity to listen to de Mistura on the one hand, as well as it allowed the Sahrawi leadership to present the various issues related to the conflict in Western Sahara.
The Italian-Swedish diplomat had previously met with a group of Sahrawi youth and women to hear the views of civil society on the conflict that has lasted too long.
It should be recalled that the visit of Staffan di Mistura in the Sahrawi refugee camps will continue on Sunday, with the visit of several Sahrawi establishments and institutions, including the visit of the school of the Shahid "Khalil Sid M'hamed" in the wilaya of Boudjdour, the National Museum of Resistance, the Digital Documentation Center, the Sahrawi Red Crescent and the Sahrawi Committee for Human Rights.
After his meeting with the Minister of Interior and Affairs of the Occupied Territories and Communities, Mustapha Sidi El-Bachir, and the President of the Sahrawi National Council, Hamma Salama, Mr. de Mistura will conclude his visit to the Sahrawi refugee camps by holding official talks with the Sahrawi President, Secretary General of the Polisario Front, Brahim Ghali.
