New York, 27 September 2021 (SPS) - The Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) and Nicaragua reaffirmed on Monday the imperative and sacred nature of the principle of self-determination and independence of all peoples and their equal rights to sovereignty and territorial unity.
During a meeting between the SADR and Nicaraguan foreign ministers on the sidelines of the 76th session of the UN General Assembly in New York, the two parties reiterated "the imperative and sacred nature of the principle of self-determination and independence of all peoples and their equal rights to sovereignty and territorial unity".
The meeting was an opportunity for the heads of diplomacy of the two countries to assess the state of bilateral relations.
Nicaragua has always called for the application of international law, the respect of human rights, the decolonisation of Western Sahara, the last colony in Africa, and urged the UN Secretary General to speed up the appointment of a Special Envoy for this territory.
