Havana (Cuba), Sept 16, 2021 (SPS) - The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, Bruno Rodríguez, received yesterday the Representative of the Frente POLISARIO at the United Nations, Dr. Sidi Mohamed Omar, in the framework of the visit of work carried out in Havana.
During the meeting held at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Havana, both parties discussed issues of common interest, where the Saharawi emissary informed the head of Cuban diplomacy about the latest events related to the conflict in Western Sahara, mainly after the violation by the Moroccan occupation forces of the ceasefire established since 1991, with their attack on the liberated areas of the Sahrawi Republic on November 13, 2020.
The Saharawi official took the opportunity to deliver to the Cuban Foreign Minister a letter from the President of the SADR, Secretary General of the POLISARIO, Mr. Brahim Gali, to his Cuban counterpart, Díaz Canel, and to express the appreciation of the government and the Saharawi people to the government and the Cuban people for their position of principle and unwavering support for the Sahrawi people's struggle for freedom and independence, despite the difficult circumstances of the economic and financial blockade.
For his part, the Cuban Foreign Minister reaffirmed Cuba's firm position of support for the Saharawi people until it achieves its legitimate objectives of freedom and independence, highlighting the historical and brotherhood ties between the Sahrawi and Cuban peoples, as well as the close friendship between the leaders of both countries.
