Bir Lehlou (Saharawi Republic) 19 June 2021 (SPS)_ The President of the Saharawi Republic, Mr. Brahim Ghali, sent a letter of condolences Friday to the President of Zambia, Mr. Edgar Chagwa Lungu, in which he paidtribute to the former Zambian President and founding father, President Kenneth Kuanda.
“It is with sad and heavy hearts that we learned in the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic about the sad passing of our dear brother and great son of Africa, H.E. President Kenneth Kauanda,” President Ghali wrote, recalling that Saharawi people and Government “will always recall this great African leader and Founding Father of the Republic of Zambia and of the Afrian Union with esteem, gratitude and respect.”
He acknowledged that President Kuanda “was a true leading force towards the liberation of many African countries thanks to the support and principled positions he adopted from all liberation struggles in Africa, including in the Saharawi Republic against the Spanish and then Moroccan invasions and occupation.”
Ghali further considered that “Kenneth Kuanda’s heritage is a legacy for all proud Africans not only for Zambians, and his principled support to the freedom and emancipation of Africa is an example to follow and pursue.”
“It is with this spirit,” he concluded his letter, “that I am addressing you my most sincere condolences on this sad occasion, asserting you my Government and people’s support and compassion,” asking the Zambian President “to pass my most heartfelt condolences to the late President Kuanda’s family, friends and to all the people and Government of Zambia.” (SPS)
