SADR Government warns against Morocco's "expansionist designs

Shaheed El Hafed, 28 November 2020 (SPS) - The minister of Information and spokesman of the government of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR), Hamada Selma, warned Friday against Morocco's "expansionist designs" in the region, stressing that Morocco occupation authorities do not respect the constitutive act of the African Union under which the member States undertake to respect the inherited colonial borders.
In a statement to the APS, the Sahrawi top official pointed out that "Morocco, acting in complicity with certain countries, is working to annex parts of the region," arguing that Morocco "would not have led the military aggression in El Guerguerat without receiving the green light from its allies."
"Morocco’s expansionist doctrine in the region is not new," he said, adding that the new sand wall built by Morocco near the borders of Mauritania "is a concrete proof of Morocco’s expansionist plans in the region, to the detriment of this neighbouring country (Mauritania)."
The spokesman of the Sahrawi Government said that Morocco, through its military aggression in El Guerguerat, wants "to conquer the cities of La Güera and Nouadhibou, warning against a "serious short-term threat" to the city of Nouadhibou, "the beating heart of the Mauritanian economy."
Morocco, through the capture of what it calls "the economic passage of El Guerguerat," aspires to empty the ports of Nouadhibou and Nouakchott in Mauritania and to dominate the transit route of goods coming from Europe, according to the Saharawi official. (SPS)
