Algeria, November 19th, 2020 (SPS) - The Algerian National Assembly, on Wednesday, condemned the Moroccan attacks on the peaceful Sahrawi demonstrators in the buffer zone in Guerguerat, indicating that what the Moroccan army did is inconsistent with UN decisions, calling on UN to intervene to stop Morocco's expansionist delusions.
“The international community is required to intervene and accelerate the finding of legal and diplomatic solutions to solve the Saharan issue, by expediting the appointment of a special UN envoy to Western Sahara, and bypassing the current deadlock status quo.” the Algerian Parliament issued in a statement
The National Assembly underlined that the Sahrawi issue is a question of decolonization and the right of a people to determine their own destiny is inalienable, and it is also an issue of principle for the Algerian people.
International reactions condemned the Moroccan aggression against the Guerguerat area in Africa, Europe and Latin America, as many countries, party organizations and civil society actors expressed their condemnation of the Moroccan breach, demanding UN to urgently intervene to put an end to the Moroccan occupation and its expansionist ambitions in Western Sahara. It should be recalled SPS
