EU follows with “great interest and concern” impact of Coronavirus pandemic on Sahrawi civilian prisoners in Moroccan jails

Paris, 17 May 2020 (SPS) - The European Union (EU) is following with great interest and concern the impact of the Coronavirus pandemic on Sahrawi civilian prisoners in Moroccan jails, the head of the European Parliament's Subcommittee on Human Rights has confirmed.
This was in response to a letter sent by the Association of Sahrawi Women in France, in which it called on the European Union to intervene urgently for the release of Sahrawi prisoners, where it was confirmed that the European Union is following with great interest and concern the impact of the Coronavirus pandemic on Sahrawi civilian prisoners, especially after recording cases of Coronavirus infection in some Moroccan jails.
In her reply letter, the head of the European Parliament's Subcommittee on Human Rights thanked the Sahrawi Association for its letter and asserted that the European Parliament was following with great interest and concern the impact of COVID19 pandemic on the rights and freedoms of people deprived of their liberty in places of detention around the world, including North Africa.
