Bir Lehlou (Saharawi Republic) 07 November 2019 (SPS)- The Government of the Saharawi Republic affirmed, in a Press Release issued by the Ministry of Information, in response to Moroccan King’s Speech he gave yesterday on the occasion of the Moroccan Military invasion of Western Sahara in 1975, that Morocco has no sovereignty over Western Sahara and that the Saharawi people will continue their struggle for freedom and independence.
Here is the full text of the Press Release:
The Moroccan Palace often seizes the occasion of the aggression against the Saharawi people to try to pass fallacies mainly targeting the Moroccan internal opinion to divert the attention of Moroccan people from their dire economic and social conditions that put Morocco in the last ranks globally in all fields of human development and imposed on the official Moroccan institutions, headed by the King himself, to recognize the total failure of the Moroccan development model, and made the propaganda of the so-called “Moroccan exception” to evaporate like a fantasy novel directed to an audience with a short memory.
Mohamed VI did not mention to the Moroccans that the world does not recognize any Moroccan sovereignty over Western Sahara, and that 193 members of the UN unanimously renewed their attachment to the right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination and emphasised the nature of the Sahrawi case as a decolonization issue, three weeks ago.
The attempt by the King of Morocco to play on numbers and falsify history and facts, a feature of the Moroccan diplomacy, aiming at concealing that his strategy to bypass the reality of the Sahrawi Republic, has failed in a resounding manner and ultimately forced Morocco to sit next to the Sahrawi Republic in continental and international conferences and forums without conditions.
The Moroccan attempts to buy time and its belief that the creation of lobbies and buying loyalty will impose Morocco's supremacy in the aggressive war against the Sahrawi people is an approach based on false calculations, and on adventurous and reckless illusions and analyzes.
Rabat’s reliance on parties and circles, such as France since 1975, to legalize the occupation has put Morocco in a dilemma and in a dead tunnel that will lead it to a heart attack, as Hassan II said on one occasion, if Morocco continues to be intransigent and refuse to comply with the international legality.
The policy of volte-face pursued by Mohammed VI and his entourage and their attempts to evade what Morocco signed with the Polisario Front after sixteen years of fierce war confirms the lack of eligibility and responsibility that have characterized the policy of the Moroccan palace since 1999.
The king of Morocco would have better proposed what he called his project of autonomy to the regions of Rif or Sousse because Western Sahara is not part of Morocco, was not part of it and will never be part of it as recognized by the United Nations, the African Union, the International Court of Justice, the Court of Justice of the European Union and all regional continental and international bodies and institutions.
The Sahrawi people, who are preparing to hold the 15th Congress of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Saguia El Hamra and Rio de Oro (POLISARIO) in an atmosphere of full readiness to continue their struggle for Liberation aimed at achieving their national goals, promise the King of Morocco that peace will only be a just peace, based on Morocco's respect of its internationally recognized borders, or will never be. And that the Sahrawi people will not accept less than full sovereignty over the land of their ancestors and its territorial integrity, no matter how long it takes and no matter what the consequences will be.
The Sahrawi people, led by the Polisario Front, call on the King of Morocco to take his country out of the war of aggression because it is more beneficial for the Moroccan people and more secure for his regime. This is the only way to return to reason and to just and lasting peace.
