Washington, February 25, 2019 (SPS) - The American Congress has once again said that the use of the American aid to Morocco in the occupied Sahrawi territories is subject to the consent of the Department of State.
The Congress which allocated the funds destined to Morocco to help Western Sahara, under the federal budget 2019, underlined that the use of this aid is subject to the approval of the Department of State.
The American Ministry of Foreign Affairs has always refused to authorize Morocco to use these funds in the occupied territories, pointing out that the implementation of this budget provision would acknowledge Morocco as an administering power in Western Sahara.
The law funding the federal State, recently adopted by the Congress, is very precise concerning the implementation of this legislative measure.
It clearly stipulates that the Secretary of State and the administrator of the US Agency for International Development (USAID) must give a decision 90 days after the promulgation of the legislation on the use of these funds in Western Sahara in consultation with the committee of funds. (SPS)
