Chahid El Hafed (Saharawi Refugee Camps), February 19, 2019 (SPS) - 43 years have already passed over the Moroccan genocide of 1976 in UM-Dreiga and to this day this crime against humanity continues unpunished.
What happened on the morning of February 18, 1976 in the town of Um-dreiga (Western Sahara) has no other name. The bombing with napalm by Moroccan aviation to innocent children and women leaving a trail of death, terror and despair, is one of the black episodes in the history of our country.
Other Saharawi camps such as Tifariti, Guelta Zemur were also bombarded with white phosphorus and napalm internationally banned under the eyes of an international amnesiac community.
The cowardly acts perpetrated by the Moroccan occupation forced the population to wander through the desert in search of a safe place. Morocco intended to massacre the Saharawi people.
Today, the Saharawi people cry for justice for the victims of this genocide, and demands that this crime not go unpunished and that the guilty be punished.
After 43 years of that black episode in our history, the Saharawi people remember this anniversary with their heads held high, with a solid unity and an extreme disposition to fight and keep fighting to recover their homeland. SPS
