Morocco opens door to immigration to force Europe to sign fishing agreement, says Taleb Omar

Algiers, August 02, 2018 (SPS) - The ambassador of the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) in Algiers, Abdelkader Taleb Omar, said Wednesday that Morocco "has opened the door to immigration to put pressure on Europe to get it to sign the fishing agreement".
"Morocco has opened the door to immigration to put pressure on Europe, and Spain in particular, to get them to sign the fishing agreement," Taleb Omar told reporters following a consultation meeting with the leader of an Algerian political party.
The Saharawi official said the EU-Morocco fishing agreement is "null and void."
If the European Union sign the agreement, it will be a "violation of the international law, Western Sahara people's right to self-determination and will undermine the efforts of the United Nations and its personal envoy, who has called the two sides to sit around a negotiation table."
Taleb Omar stressed the intention of "some States, including France and Spain, to sign the agreement, which is under preparation."
"A memorandum of Understanding (MoU) had been signed before the latest decision of the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU), on July 16.
The ruling of the Court of Justice of the European Union stipulates that "Western Sahara territory and its adjacent waters cannot be included in any EU-Morocco agreement, as Rabat's sovereignty over the territory is not recognized."
"This sovereignty belongs to the Saharawi people and the Frente POLISARIO, their representative, both of whom have rejected the baseless and illegal agreement," the CJUE stressed, according to the ambassador. SPS
