Vitry-Sur-Seine (France), Oct 23, 2017 (SPS) -Participants in the two-day European Coordinating Conference of Support to the Sahrawi People (EUCOCO), which wrapped Sunday, showed great solidarity with the Sahrawi people in their struggle for self-determination and independence.
In addition to Algeria, represented in this conference by a large parliamentary delegation, 300 participants from Italy, Spain, South Africa, Sweden, Mauritania, Venezuela and others attended this solidarity event held under the slogan "Self-determination, an inalienable right."
Counsellor at the embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in France, Gabriela Jaramillo reiterated her country's support to the struggle of the Sahrawi people and emphasized "good relations between the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic and Venezuela."
For his part, President of the Union of Forces of Progress in Mauritania Mohamed Ould Mouloud said the Sahrawi cause had made significant progress at the international level.
"We are here to confirm the strength of geographical and historical relations between the two countries and renew our party's support to the struggle of the Sahrawi people," said Mouloud, who called on states and democratic forces to back the Sahrawi people's right to self-determination and freedom.
Mayor of French commune Gonfreville l'Orcher, Albane Bruneau affirmed her commune's support to the struggle of the Sahrawi people and regretted the absence of French media and the media blackout on the Sahrawi issue.
"It is important to hold this event in France to officially put it in front of its responsibilities," she stressed.
Italian MP Romanini Giuseppe called on Morocco to comply with the Decision of the European Court of Justice to stop the plunder of Western Sahara's resources, stressing the need to inform the public opinion of the violations of human rights in Western Sahara. (SPS)
