Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) October 05, 2017 (SPS) - a delegation of Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic led by Minister of Water and Environment Brahim Mojtar took part at the conference of the Specialized Technical Committee on Agriculture, Rural Development, Water and Environment, which will be held in Addis Ababa on 5 and 6 October 2017 under the theme " Enhancing environmental sustainability and agricultural transformation to achieve food and nutrition security in advancing Agenda 2063.”
The STC meeting will consider and adopt strategic documents and reports related to Agriculture, Rural Development, Water and Environment and to provide policy recommendations and guidance on topics that are high on Africa’s Development Agenda 2063.
Moroccan Agriculture Minister Aziz Akhannouch failed to win the confidence of his North African counterparts after being nominated to the Bureau of the Specialized Technical Committee. Mauritanian Minister of Agriculture Lamina Alkatob Ould Amem was elected as second vice-chairperson on behalf of the North African countries for a period of two years.
SADR has a remarkable experience in agriculture. It is considered a successful continental model in view of the results achieved in facing the challenges of exceptional circumstances that characterized it and expressed its readiness to contribute and support the agricultural development in the African continent.
