New York (UN), Sep 25, 2017 (SPS) - Mozambique lamented Monday in the General Assembly the lack of progress in the decolonization of Western Sahara.
During the General Debate of the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly, António Gumende, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Mozambique to the United Nations, emphasized that the lack of progress in the decolonization of Western Sahara remains a serious concern for Mozambique.
He called on the Security Council, General Assembly, and international community to exercise their responsibility through the implementation of their resolutions regarding the right to self-determination and freedom.
In that regard, he requested support to the African Union and its Special Envoy for Western Sahara, Mr. Joaquim Chissano, former president of Mozambique. (SPS)
