Algiers, August 14, 2017 (SPS) - Western Sahara ambassador to Algiers and representatives of Algerian and Sahrawi women's associations and organizations, said Sunday that the Sahrawi question was going through a "sensitive and crucial" stage.
This stage requires “regional and international measures to put pressure on Morocco and bring it to comply with international legality, while calling for new mechanisms to make known the resistance and the struggle of the Sahrawi woman.”
Speaking at a meeting in support of the resistance of Sahrawi women organized by the commune of Algiers, in collaboration with the commune of occupied Al-Ayun, in the Larbi Ben M'hidi cultural center, Sahrawi ambassador Bouchraya Hamoudi Bayoune stressed the need for regional and international measures, particularly from the UN and the Security Council to put pressure on Morocco and bring it to comply with the international law."
"As a member of the African Union (AU), Morocco is obliged to implement its resolutions," said the ambassador who called on the African organization to "take coercive decisions by imposing economic and even military sanctions to bring the occupation authority to apply international law and engage into peace negotiations without preconditions."
