New York, March 27, 2017 (SPS) - The United Nations Economic Commission for Africa announced Sunday that it would postpone the conference of the African Union-United Nations partnership scheduled to take place in the Senegalese capital, Dakar, after receiving a legal opinion issued by the Commission of the African Union that refutes Moroccan accusations and supports the position of the Saharawi Republic.
The Commission said it discussed Morocco's objection to the participation of the Sahrawi Republic.
The postponement comes after the Commission received legal arguments presented by the Commission and a number of African bodies, which recognize the impossibility of holding the meeting without the presence of the Saharawi Republic, which is a full member of the African Union.
The chief of the Saharawi Diplomacy told reporters following the postponement of the conference in Dakara that Morocco fails again to prevent the Saharawi Republic from participating in the partnership between the African Union and the United Nations as it failed at the Malabo summit. (SPS)
