Madrid, February 12, 2017 (SPS) - The friendly association with the Sahrawi people of the Spanish city of Burgos announced Saturday that a specialized medical team and a large batch of medical supplies will be sent to the Sahrawi refugee camps.
The medical team, which will stay for two weeks comprises two surgeons (a general practitioner and a traumatologist) an anesthetist, a primary care physician and an internist plus four nurses, said Mayte Gimenez, the president of the association.
The medical team who work in the University hospitals of Santiago Apostle of Burgos and Ebro of Miranda, will also carry with it 120 kg of surgical supplies and 110 kg of medicines, she added.
Mayte Gimenez also pointed out that the general surgery specialist currently will perform thirty gallbladder surgeries while the rest of the team will deal with other health problems such as anaemia, infections, undiagnosed diabetes, and diseases of eyes, ear and mouth.
The president of the friendly association of the Sahrawi people has also announced that a caravan of humanitarian aid will be sent to the refugee camps in early March. SPS
