Copenhagen (Denmark) 21 Feb - The Danish MP from the Red-Green Alliance Party, Mr. Christian Juhl, questioned Feb 17th, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Denmark, Mr Kristian Jensen, various questions about Western Sahara. The interpellations related to the recent forced deportation of 3 Danish Journalist from El Aaiun, the capital city of Western Sahara, who wants to investigate in the violations of human rights in the territory.
“Does the Minister agree to silencing and deporting Danish journalists by Morocco and stopping them from alerting international public opinion to the serious situation of human rights of the last colony in Africa?”
“Will the Minister urge Morocco to lift the information blackout, release the area from the grip of the military and encourage transparency in these territories over which it has no sovereignty under international law?”
“Does the Minister believe that Morocco is acting in accordance with Article 2 of the EU‑Morocco Association Agreement, which itself stipulates that it is conditional upon ‘respect for the democratic principles and fundamental human rights’?” the MP Questions.
Mr. Christian Juhl also said Crans Montana Forum plans to hold its annual meeting in the town of Dakhla in occupied Western Sahara in March 2016. This meeting in Western Sahara is a violation of international law and goes against the UN recommendations.
“Will the Minister responds whether Denmark will follow the recommendations of UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon to not attend the Crans Montana meeting in Western Sahara?” the MP further questions.
The last question was about the judgment made on the 10th of December 2015, the European Union Court of Justice has agreed to the request of the Polisario Front and annulled the agricultural cooperation agreement concluded between the European Union and Morocco because it is applied to the territory of Western Sahara.
