Addis Ababa, 31 January 2015 (SPS) The President of the AU Commission, Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, called on UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon to act to resolve the Western Sahara conflict through a self-determination referendum in order to avoid destabilization in the region which could result in disastrous consequences.
The will of the people of Western Sahara cannot be ignored, who has fought to decide their future Dlamini Zuma underlined at the opening session of the 26th AU summit in the presence of fifty heads of State and Government, including Prime Minister Taleb Oumar, representing the President of the Republic, Secretary General of the Polisario Front, Mohamed Abdelaziz.
The referendum is a promise that we have made, their future depends on Africa, added Dlamini Zuma. (SPS)
