Parliamentary group of Slovenian United Left Party expresses support for self-determination of Saharawi people

Ljubljana, 29 January 2016 (SPS) Deputy Matej Tasner Vatovec, coordinator of the parliamentary group of the Slovenian United Left Party, expressed Thursday support for the right of the Saharawi people to self-determination through a just and fair referendum.

 

In a statement issued after a meeting with the Polisario Front representative in Slovenia, the Slovenian member affirmed its support for United Nations efforts to find a peaceful solution to this conflict, calling for the relaunch of negotiations between both parties to the conflict, the Polisario Front and Morocco.

 

The representative of the Polisario Front seized his meeting with Mr. Tasner Vatovec to inform him on the latest developments of the Saharawi question in particular the peace process and efforts of the United Nations, violations of human rights in the occupied territories of Western Sahara.

 

The results of the 14th Congress of the Polisario Front and bilateral relations were also discussed. (SPS)
