Dakhla (Refugee Camps), December 20, 2015 (SPS) - The Progressive Alliance in Germany has called the international community to find a solution to the conflict in Western Sahara guaranteeing the right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination, in a letter addressed to the 14th Congress of the POLISARIO Front, held in Dakhla (Refugee Camps), from 16 to 20 December.
“Current developments highlight the necessity for a strong involvement by the international community of states. This conflict, which has been smouldering for decades, must be brought to a solution and that as soon as possible. Any solution must take full account of the interests of the regional population, who have been living in the most difficult circumstances for many years, and must contribute towards an improvement of their political and economic living conditions,” the Alliance stressed in its letter.
The Alliance expressed hope that this decades-long conflict and the current suffering of the Sahrawi people will soon be brought to an end.
For the Alliance, the achievement of a just, long-term political solution of the Western Sahara conflict, which is acceptable to both sides, and which allows for the self-determination of the Sahrawi people, continues to be an urgent concern.
Finally, the Alliance expressed wish to the Frente POLISARIO for a successful 14th Congress and much success with the implementation of the objectives formulated in the course of it. (SPS)
